Athlete’s Foot (Tinea Pedis)
Athlete’s foot is a common and contagious function infection of the skin. The disease is typically transmitted in moist communal areas where people walk barefoot, such as showers or swimming pools.
Signs and Symptoms of Athlete’s foot:
- Itchiness
- Redness
- Flaking and peeling of the skin
- Maceration (softening and whitening of the skin) of the spaces between the toes
Treatment:
- Normally topical treatments are successful
- In severe cases, corticosteroids and/ or oral medications can be used
