A callus is a toughened area of skin which has become relatively thick and hard in response to repeated friction, pressure or other irritation. Calluses can cause a burning a burning or painful sensation when walking and may form over the top of corns.
Corns are painful areas of thickened skin caused when high pressures become concentrated in small areas, There are several types of corns but the most common are the heloma durum (hard corn) and the heloma molle (soft corn). Hard corns are generally found on the top of digits or bottom of the foot where as soft corns are generally found between the toes.
