Fungal toenails are usually thickened and discoloured nails as a result of a fungal infection. Fungal toenails can affect people of any age, but are more common in the older population. Fungal toenails are easy to manifest and can be extremely tough to treat.

There are a number of ways to treat fungal nails ranging from topical lacquers, oral medications and laser treatments. It is important that your podiatrist carefully decides which treatment plan is correct for you. The recovery time is dependant of the treatment plan. A minimum of 12 months is required if the entire nail is infected.
