Foot orthotics or “orthoses” are innersoles used to change the position and function of you lower limb. There are several different types of orthoses available, but they can be classed as either CUSTOM MADE or OFF THE SHELF.
Custom made orthoses are usually made from a plaster cast or digital scan of the patient’s foot. Neither is superior to the other. Once the impression is taken, it is taken to the laboratory where state of the art techniques are used to fabricate a device specifically to the podiatrist’s requirements.
